I’m Steve Daitch, a candidate for the Grand Haven Area Public Schools (GHAPS) Board of Education in the election on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
I’ve spent my career in public service and election administration, including seven years running elections here in Ottawa County. I believe strong public schools build strong communities, and I’m running to help make Grand Haven the best place it can be for kids, families, and everyone who calls it home.
My Priorities
Artificial Intelligence
AI will require new policies and new ways of thinking to prepare students for the future. I want to help students build real thinking skills alongside AI, with clear guardrails that protect learning, teachers, and student privacy.

Financial pressure shapes what our schools can offer. I'll push for budgets people can understand, planning that looks past the next fiscal year, and spending judged by what it returns to students and to this community over time.

Grand Haven needs a district that engages families and neighbors before decisions get made, not just when there's a bond or a millage on the ballot. Our schools should be places this whole community uses and takes pride in.
